Glowworm for Apple TV
Privacy policy
Effective September 10, 2026
About this policy
Shed Labs, LLC ("Shed Labs," "we," "us," or "our") provides Glowworm, an Apple TV app that turns media available through your Plex account into a personalized, live-style guide. This policy describes the information Glowworm processes, how it is used and shared, and the choices available to you.
Information Glowworm processes
Your Plex authorization token; a one-way hash of your stable Plex account identifier; a one-way hash of your Plex email address when needed to check complimentary access; and information about available Plex servers and libraries. We store the server and libraries you select.
Media metadata needed to build your guide, such as titles, summaries, genres, ratings, durations, artwork locations, and playback capabilities. We also process channel names, channel rules, selected media, schedule configuration, and related preferences.
For Glowworm Plus, we process signed App Store transaction information, including the product identifier, original transaction identifier, expiration, revocation status, and App Store environment. Apple handles your payment details; we do not receive your full payment-card number.
A randomly generated app device identifier, request metadata, error details, and limited operational logs needed to authenticate requests, prevent abuse, diagnose failures, and keep the service reliable. We do not use the Apple advertising identifier.
Your email address and the information you choose to include when you contact support. Please do not send passwords, Plex tokens, payment details, or other sensitive information.
How we use information
- Connect Glowworm to the Plex account you authorize.
- Discover selected libraries, build your guide, and prepare playback connections.
- Save and synchronize your lineup and preferences across your Apple TVs.
- Verify, restore, and administer Glowworm Plus access.
- Provide support, troubleshoot problems, secure the service, and prevent misuse.
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.
Media playback
Glowworm does not upload your video library to Shed Labs. When playback begins, video is requested directly by your Apple TV from your Plex server, a secure Plex remote-access connection, or Plex Relay when available. Glowworm’s backend may process library metadata and proxy artwork so the app can build and display your guide, but the video stream itself does not pass through Shed Labs’ hosting provider.
How information is shared
We do not sell or rent your personal information. We disclose information only as needed to operate Glowworm:
- Plex provides account linking, server discovery, library metadata, artwork, and playback connections.
- Apple distributes the app and processes App Store subscriptions, billing, refunds, and signed transaction data.
- Supabase provides database hosting for Plex connection tokens, account-scoped channel settings, and subscription state.
- Render hosts Glowworm’s backend service and processes app requests and operational logs.
- Support and professional advisers may process information when necessary to respond to you, comply with law, or protect users, the service, and our legal rights.
We require service providers acting on our behalf to protect information consistently with this policy and applicable law.
Retention and deletion
- Plex connection tokens are retained until you disconnect Plex on that Apple TV or ask us to delete them.
- Account-scoped channel settings and subscription records may remain after you disconnect a single Apple TV so they can synchronize to another device. You can request deletion of these records.
- Library and guide data cached by the backend is temporary. Media catalog responses are ordinarily cached for up to 15 minutes, and generated guide data for up to 36 hours.
- Operational logs, support messages, and transaction records are retained only as reasonably needed for support, security, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, and legal obligations.
Deletion from active systems may not immediately remove limited information from backups or records we must retain by law. We isolate and protect retained information and delete or anonymize it when it is no longer required.
Your privacy choices
You can disconnect Plex from Glowworm in the app’s Connection settings. This removes the Plex credential stored for that Apple TV, but does not cancel Glowworm Plus or automatically delete account-scoped channel settings. To request access, correction, portability, or deletion of information associated with Glowworm, visit Privacy Choices or email nick@shedlabs.studio. We may need to verify your request before acting on it.
Security
We use encrypted network connections, system-provided secure storage on Apple TV, restricted database access, and other administrative and technical safeguards designed to protect information. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children
Glowworm is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child provided personal information through Glowworm, contact us so we can review and delete it as appropriate.
International processing
Glowworm and its service providers may process information in the United States and other locations where they operate. Those locations may have data-protection laws different from the laws where you live.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Glowworm or applicable requirements change. We will post the updated version here and revise the effective date. If a change materially affects how we handle information, we will provide additional notice when appropriate.
